Directions to create a WWW Link Page using AppleWorks Word Processor
1. Launch AppleWorks using Start Button or ShortCut on Desktop.
2. At AppleWorks Main Menu click on the Word Processing Icon.
3. Type the lines of text as they appear on the provided web page. ( Left Justified )
4. Make sure your First and Last name is at the bottom with the Institution & Date.
( Why should a web page have a name, institution, and date? )
5. Note: Dividers and categories are double spaced and text is single spaced.
6. After all text has been entered and checked then use Control – A to center.
7. When all is centered then click to the side of selected text to de-select it.
8. Click the command Edit then Preferences then HTML Import/Export
9. Click on DropDown arrow next to colors and select a color then click OK.
10. For some reason, AppleWorks has problems with background colors or images.
11. If it does not work then not to worry we will fix it later.
12. Background Colors and Images can be added easily another way and later.
13. Select top three lines and make them Bold… Use Control – B or B icon
14. The top three lines should still be selected: Click the command Text then Text Color…
15. At the Text Color window, click a dark text color. ( Not Blue! Why?)
16. Select last line: Name, Institution, and Date make last line. Bold and Color last line!
17. Select the words for the link: Teachers Discovering Computers 3rd Edition
18. Now: Minimize AppleWorks Link Page and launch Explorer or Firefox
19. Click on Favorite or Bookmark at the top of the Browser and a List will appear.
20. Click the words for: Teachers Discovering Computers 3rd Edition
21. Select URL (web address) & use Control - C to copy URL from web address window..
22. Click AppleWorks Link Page on Task Bar to have it re-appear full screen.
23. Click on middle Link Icon at top then use Control – V to paste URL then click OK.
24. Use Minimize & Full Size and Copy & Paste procedures to create the other links.
( Why is Copy and Paste procedures best for creating Link Pages? )
25. After all the Instructional Technology links are created then save AWs Link Page.
26. Use the file name of: awslinkpage## where ## are your initials.
27. Save this AppleWorks Link Page in your H Drive. It should go into a folder?
28. After the AppleWorks Link Page has been saved then launch it and check the links.
If any links do not work then use AppleWorks Word Processing to open and correct link page.
