Directions for creating Frames in MS Word

1. Open a new MS Word document and click on Fromat

then Frames then click on New Frames Page.

2. A New Frames Page (Blank MS Word) document will appear

and a Frames Toolbar will appear on the screen.

3. A Good idea is to create the classic set of frames (my example) which is

a small frame at top left corner with a small vertical frame beneath it

then a large narrow frame across the top and a large square frame below.

4. Click  option for a New Frame Left  and  a border will appear

in the middle of the page

to click & drag it to the left.

5. Make sure your cursor is in the small vertical frame on the left side

6. Click option for a New Frame Above   and  a border will appear

in the middle of the small vertical border

so click & drag it to top left.

7. Make sure your cursor is in the large square frame in the middle of the page

8. Click on the option for a New Frame Above   and a border will appear

in the middle of the large border thus click & drag border

to line up with the small horizontal border on the left.

9. Now, save this page for later inclusion of the backgrounds and links…

Maybe a name like MainPage would be appropriate….

10 Now, to create the pages to fill in the four frames created in the Main Page.

11. It would be a good idea to have this mainpage and all frame pages below

in a single folder to easily include into each specific frame on the mainpage.

12. Thus, create a blank MS Word document and to keep it simple

click Format then Background then a light color.

13. Type a Heading for the links,     Categories    center it at top of page

then save this page as topleft since that is where it goes.

click Format then Background then a light color.

15. Type a Heading for mainpage,    My Favorite Links   center it at top of page

then save this page as topcenter since that is where it goes.

click Format then Background then a light color.

17. Create a Narrow Vertical List of Links  and  vertically centered them down the page

then save this page as bottomleft since that is where it goes.

18. Now, create a blank MS Word document and to keep it simple

click Format then Background then a light color.

19. Create a HomePage for mainpage, a couple of lines but exactly in the center of page

then save this page as bottomcenter since that is where it goes.

20. With mainpage visible & cursor in topleft frame, click Format then Frames then Frame Properties

then Use Browse or Drop Down Arrow then to locate the topleft page and click OK.

21. With mainpage visible & cursor in topcenter frame, click Format then Frames then Frame Properties

then Use Browse or Drop Down Arrow then to locate the topcenter page and click OK.

22. Mainpage visible & cursor in bottomleft frame, click Format then Frames then Frame Properties

then Use Browse or Drop Down Arrow then to locate the bottomleft page and click OK.

23. Mainpage visible & cursor in bottomcenter frame, click Format then Frames then Frame Properties

then Use Browse or Drop Down Arrow then to locate the bottomcenter page and click OK.

24. If all goes well then Pat yourself on the back…  You deserve it…  Now save the Main Page again….
